macOS Utility
DefaultTamer
Set it as your default browser once. It routes every link to where it actually belongs.
Overview
DefaultTamer is a lightweight macOS menu bar utility that sits between a clicked link and your browser. Instead of opening every URL in one default browser, it routes based on where the click came from — Slack links open in Chrome, Cursor links open in Arc, personal bookmarks open in Safari — all automatically, with no manual switching.
Features
- Set DefaultTamer as your system default browser once
- Route URLs by source application (Slack, Cursor, Terminal, etc.)
- Route by URL pattern or domain rule
- Hold ⌥ Option to override and pick a browser manually
- Privacy-first — fully local, no telemetry, no network requests
- Lightweight menu bar presence, no Dock icon
